Raised on a healthy diet of classics — from Iggy Pop to James Brown, The Velvet Underground to Stevie Wonder, The Rolling Stones to Grandmaster Flash — Myles Hendrik has long been a person who lives and breathes music, playing in bands for most of his life in addition to being a hardcore aficionado. His career as an international DJ, however, started almost on a lark, after playing the backyard party of a friend who suggested he consider going pro. What soon followed was residencies at several of LA’s landmark nightclubs, where he found himself spinning the dance-worthy sets he would come to be known for — a cross-pollination of hip hop, rock, funk, soul, and indie cuts for a slew of A-listers, tastemakers and the city’s hip kids.
With the doors to the DJ world flung open, Hendrik quickly became one of the most sought-after DJs in Los Angeles, playing for a laundry list of the worlds most recognizable names: Leonardo DiCaprio, Anna Wintour, Johnny Depp, Mick Jagger, Michael Jordan, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, David and Victoria Beckham just to name a few. He has been the go-to for bands and their after-parties, working with the likes of U2, The Weeknd, Daft Punk, The Strokes, The Arctic Monkeys, Prince and Florence + The Machine. On more of the pure club tip, Myles has shared the stage with Grammy award winning Producer/DJ’s Mark Ronson and Diplo and artists Future, A-Trak and Empire Of The Sun.
In 2011, Hendrik graduated from rock royalty to the real deal, playing a star-studded BAFTA soirée for Prince William and Miss Kate Middleton. And, in a city home to countless award ceremonies, Hendrik has leant his musical expertise to after-parties for the Oscars, Emmys, Golden Globes, The Grammys and the VMA’s.
With Hendrik’s debonair flair and love of either a slim-tailored suit or a stylish leather jacket, it wasn’t long before the fashion industry took notice of his panache. He has curated runway show mixes for some of the biggest names on the catwalk: Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, Dolce & Gabbana, Michael Kors, and Vogue’s CFDA Fashion Fund. In addition, major luxury brands and boutiques have turned to him for openings, launches and after-parties, such as Vanity Fair, Vivienne Westwood, Mulberry, Jeremy Scott, Prabal Gurung, Phillip Lim, Alberta Ferretti, Burberry, and Opening Ceremony.
The advertising and editorial worlds have also taken note; Hendrik counts Vogue, Vanity Fair, W Magazine, Rolling Stone, Esquire, GQ, Nylon and Absolut as clients.
Aside from all of the glitz and glamour of the fancy fetes, Myles has been known to hold some of the best dance parties in Los Angeles, New York and Paris earning weekly residencies at the most prestigious clubs and lounges for his ability to turn any space into one of the coolest parties you’ve ever been to.
Myles is currently in the studio writing and producing an album to be released this year.
Get ready, world. You’re going to be seeing a lot more of Myles Hendrik for the foreseeable future. Hope you brought your dancing shoes.
